Initially asserting its historic dominance as a hardwood staple for the League’s best in the 70s – and later modernized for a new generation by way of Kobe Bryant – the adidas Top Ten 2000 has remained tucked away in The Three Stripes archives for the latter few years. In tandem with the continued outfits of the Forum alongside recently surfaced D. Rose 1.5’s and Crazy 1’s, adi is inserting the return of the iconic model amidst the brand’s voyage back through their catalog of hoops-ready silhouettes.
Harkening the widely-popular 90s aesthetic of mixed-material uppers and bulky constructions, the return of the Top Ten 2000 enjoys the same color scheme seen on Kobe’s feet for his first-ever media day. Suedes fill the upper panels of the model including the mudguard, quarter overlay and gold branded lace closures treated in a heavy sampling of “Legend Ink”. A mesh textile presides underneath, constructing the tongue and heel collar as the sneaker is fastened by color-matched elastic forefoot straps. Below, leather coated midfoot panels render a contrasting crisp “Cloud White” shading that includes the ankle and tongue “adidas Equipment” insignias. Further original embellishments feature “Team College Burgundy” pull tabs affixed with the model’s synonymous playful logo and bulbous branding adorned to the heel counter in conclusion.
The adidas Top Ten 2000 is available now via the store list below for a retail price of $140. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the OG pair below.
In other news from The Three Stripes’ basketball umbrella, the adidas Crazy 1 returns in the Lakers synonymous “Regal Purple”.
