Earlier in May, it was reported the Nike would consider not extending their current existing signature shoe deal with Kyrie Irving beyond 2022-2023 season. That said, the Nike Kyrie 9 could be the last Nike Kyrie signature shoe to release onto the market. However, this does not rule out potential retro releases of past Nike Kyrie footwear, or perhaps his involvement on the Sportswear side of things if the brand were inclined to keep him signed on some capacity.
This first look at the Nike Kyrie 9 in the White/University Red/Black/Wolf Grey reveals a completely new redesign featuring sustainably-focused materials on the upper, a completely new traction pattern, and a low/mid cut. If Nike is interested in keeping to its release schedule, this new model is currently expected to release on November 11th, with this specific colorway scheduled for November 24th.
On a tech standpoint, the Kyrie 9 utilizes the prized Zoom Air strobel, a full-length cushioning unit that spans the entire foot-bed. The Zoom strobel is steadily growing into the standard cushioning platform for the brand’s top-flight footwear models as it used on Kevin Durant’s current model, the LeBron 19, and the GT Cut of the Greater Than series.
Full tech specs and release details will be revealed by Nike later this year. For now, check this first set of leaked images and stay tuned for official information.
