Over the course of the past few years, Brain Dead has more than proved their collaborative prowess: of note, the LA-based streetwear label has dropped ASICS with Kiko Kostadinov, made a chair out of leftover samples with Droog, and brought back the Flesh sneaker with Oakley. And this Summer, they’re continuing to bring up the heat, as they’re rejoining Vault by Vans for the partnership’s third collection.
The Half Cab And The Lampin
Split up into two parts, the capsule will see four different collaborative styles. The OG Half Cab LX and OG Lampin LX will be the first on offer, both clad with white contrast stitching and multi-color eyelets. Color-wise and construction-wise, however, the two deviate slightly: the Half Cab sports a remixed arrangement of canvas and suede, with blues, purples, and dark yellows situated between a series of neutral panels; the Lampin, on the other hand, features a tri-tone suede helmed by bright greens and blues.
The Half Cab and the Lampin will be available on June 10th via Brain Dead’s physical locations; an online drop will follow on June 14th.
Remixing The Iconic Checkerboard
The following month will see two additional releases: the OG Authentic LX and OG Slip-On LX. Unlike the preceding models, this installment places less emphasis on color, opting to reimagine Vans’ iconic Checkerboard. Brain Dead has simply injected their head logo into the black and white print itself, effectively placing more emphasis on the silhouettes as well as the Anaheim brand’s heritage.
The Authentic and Slip-On will release through Brain Dead’s physical and online channels on July 5th; a global launch will take place on July 9th, hitting a number of Vault By Vans retailers.
