This Air Jordan 1 Mid Is Inspired By The African Continent

The Air Jordan 1 Mid has acted as a canvas for a number of influences, some obviously more eccentric than others. Here, the silhouette ostensibly draws inspiration from the African continent, whose shape is pictured right on the heel.

Surrounding its image is a number of vibrantly colored panels, each distinct in their choice of texture. A crinkling is applied to the darker, deep red collar, while a somewhat smoother finish defines the pink ankle flap adjacent. As for the Swoosh, which contrasts in white, the leather is cracked across the entire surface, possibly nodding to the dry Sahara Desert. The texture of the heel tab and toe cap, too, seem to pay homage to another African sight, the great savanna elephants, unlike the tumbled base underneath.

For a closer look at this interesting take on the AJ1 Mid, see below. Release dates, pricing info, and official images should surface very soon.

In other news, official images of the Air Jordan 12 Playoffs popped up earlier last week.
