Marimekko’s Poppy Print Appears On The adidas Superstar

With their previous adidas collection, Marimekko put an emphasis on print-making, adding patterns to silhouettes like the UltraBOOST DNA, the Stan Smith, Forum Lo, and much more. And now, the Finnish design house is directing their attention to the beloved Superstar, bringing all of the patterned energy to the shoe’s smaller parts.

So as not to appear too bold, the focal poppy print is only applied to the heel tab and the Three Stripes along the sides. Predominantly dressed in black, both of the aforementioned fixtures’ cream and orange florals distract little from the overall colorway, which seems largely inspired by the OG. Finally, “Gold Metallic” hits round out the upper, gilding the “Superstar” text across the lateral as well as the co-branding at the tongue.
