Snow Peak and the New Balance Tokyo Design Studio are nothing short of a match made in heaven. And as they embark on their fourth collaborative capsule, the two are revisiting the “Niobium Concept,” iterating further for what is — for all intents and purposes — the world’s “first” 2Way sandal.
Though near identical in name to the version previous, the aptly titled Niobium Concept 2 offers a design world’s apart. The sole, for starters, opts for FRESH FOAM cushioning, while the lace unit above forgoes strings for magnetic FIDLOCK buckles. Elsewhere, the base construction is comprised near entirely of mesh, providing a breathability welcome through the Summer heat. More rigid, durable synthetic leathers support the upper along the toe and mudguard, each dressed a deep olive shade that complements the darker neutrals adjacent. And while not quite as versatile, the silhouette can still be worn two ways: as both a sandal and mule.
