By taking inspiration from the Nike Space Hippie and Nike Daybreak, along with incorporating both Crater foam and Regrind rubber, the Waffle Racer Crater seems to do it all. For an upcoming colorway, the sustainability-informed silhouette will be going back to its roots to tick yet another checkbox off of the unlikely combos list—specifically via the pairing of two vibrant, high-contrast hues.
This new pair differs from recent releases since it ditches the white uppers and dark accents for a full-blown colored approach. Like the debut Barely Volt and Pink Blast offering, the latest Waffle Racer Crater tints its plush base and leather accents in bold shades—specifically Bleached Aqua and Speed Yellow. The Bleached Aqua is applied throughout the pair’s plush, nylon uppers while the yellow is used on the side Swooshes and the heel tab. To balance out these bright moments, suede Photon Dust overlays wrap around the toe and heel. As for the sole unit, a light blue Crater foam midsole is enveloped by the Regrind rubber outsole for added traction. A nod to heritage-style runners, the design is complete with a signature Waffle outsole.
