Just when it seemed like the KD 4 retro run was coming to a close, Nike Basketball is hitting us with another banger. As announced during the brand’s recent SNKRS product preview, the KD 4 “Texas” aka “Longhorns” from 2012 is returning in 2025.
Taking inspiration from KD’s alma mater, the sneaker features a Texas Longhorns palette of white and “Desert Orange.” The latter color takes over pretty much the entire sneaker, save for white hits on the midsole, heel, and Swooshes. The main highlight, just as it was in 2012, is a white Longhorns logo over the tongue (yes, Texas is and has been a Nike-sponsored school).
As one would assume from a #2 overall draft pick, Kevin Durant was nothing short of excellent during his one-and-done year at Texas. KD won the National Freshman of the Year and Big 12 Player of the Year awards in 06-07, and was also a consensus First Team All-American. His alma mater has made its way onto his signature Nike Basketball line several times, notably through “Texas” KD 3 and KD 6 colorways (although many agree the KD 4 is the best).
No release date for the Nike KD 4 “Longhorns” aka “Texas” has been confirmed yet, but we’ll go live with an update as soon as that changes.
