Halfway through 2024 we knew that 2025 would be a year to remember for Jordan fans, as the 40th anniversary would see the brand bring back a litany of hyped pairs of old. While it may not rise to the level of the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” or Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined,” the Air Jordan 3 “Pure Money” is certainly deserving of the top billing that comes with a release in this year. First launched in 2007 in close proximity the Air Jordan 3 “Black Cat,” a shoe that flipped the monochromatic script on its head, all-white is what it promised, and all-white is we got.
In a similar story to what we’ve seen on this year’s newswire, the shoe would come back into focus just three years later, as the “Silver Anniversary” (read: 25th) for the brand saw it bring polished aesthetics to almost all of its vaunted retros. Thus, the “triple white” saw the shelves again, before receding into the background in the following decade.
Though in broad strokes, the 2025 pair remains true to the original composition, some of the slightly tinkered tweaks visible with this pair are already proving a bit divisive. Namely, the rear and front elephant panels sport a tinted off-white, perhaps alluding to the yellowing seen in many collector’s original pairs but nonetheless breaking from what we received in 2007. What remains unchanged and just as glimmering is the rest of the real estate; white leather foundation, white sole unit, and eye-catching “Metallic Silver” accents dispersed in between.
