The adidas Crazy 2.0 Forges “Grey Five”

Can Kobe’s enduring fanbase rehabilitate the adidas Crazy 2.0? Famously a breaking point in the relationship between the Three Stripes and the Black Mamba (then more accurately in his “Frobe” era), the silhouette has since become a certain kind of paragon for a subset of bulk, almost brutalist Y2K style.

The early returns on the bring-back effort have pointed towards the positive in our hypothetical; a chrome-coated “Silver Metallic” currently sits at sold-out status in most adult sizing. Thus, following up with an equally glossy edition in “Grey Five” seems like a cogent play. While the titular steel handles most of the synthetic upper, lighter neutrals grace the toe and midfoot panel, leaving the collar to perforated jet black. And for those who can’t justify their aesthetics without the performance to match, don’t fret — much the same as the Protro movement on the other side of the industry, the Crazy 2.0’s tech gets modernized by adidas here: Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro define the cushioning on this remastered version.

While initial reports had the adidas Crazy 2.0 “Grey Five” tabbed for June 2025, obviously that window is now far more narrow. Instead, expect this pair to land in Fall 2025, retailing for $160 upon arrival.
