We can’t say we’ve been caught flat-footed by the Nike Air Max Sunder‘s recent moves, but as its retro run gets longer in the tooth and resultantly becomes more experimental, we’ve certainly had to double take at some of its material make-overs and gradient colorways.

Now, it’s not even any particular hardware changes that raise our eyebrows, as the Nike Air Max Sunder “Olive Flak” grabs our attention in palette alone. Clad in an eccentric blend of “Olive Flak” and “Blue Tint,” the silhouette almost steps into the realm of Nike ACG, utilizing the outdoors sub-brands favored combination of often clashing vibrant and earthy shades. The gum sole that anchors this design adds to that lean, merging two of the more venerated labels in Beaverton towards the 1990s between ACG and the Alpha Project.

The Nike Air Max Sunder “Olive Flak” will touch down as a women’s exclusive in the coming weeks with a $180 retail price.
