While models like the 1906R and 9060 remain top sellers in today’s sneaker economy, the Boston brand is entering a new era with not one, but two retro-inspired lifestyle offerings. The New Balance 2010 has already made a strong impression through a KITH collab and “Grey Days” release, and the New Balance 2000 has already generated considerable buzz ahead of its June 12th debut. For our purposes, the former model is continuing its rollout with a compelling “Pecan” colorway on June 25th.
As our regular readers might recall, the “Pecan” New Balance 2010 was the model’s first colorway to emerge via official images (back in March). It’s got brown suede overlays, black underlays, and open olive-colored mesh underneath it all. The midsole comes painted in black, save for grey ABZORB cushioning pods and a brief sage green cameo around the heel. New Balance’s acclaimed 99X series is a key reference on the 2010, with its layering scheme offering a familiar aesthetic rooted in NB heritage. The sneaker’s ABZORB SBS tech aligns with the Made In USA series as well; the same cushioning package debuted on the New Balance 992 back in 2006.
As of this writing, European retailers have the New Balance 2010 “Pecan” on their release calendars for June 25th. Budget for a $160 shelf price if you’re considering copping a pair.
