The Nike Air Bakin Is Back in 2026

A triumphant return after more than ten years on ice.

The Nike Air Bakin Is Back in 2026

“Real hoopers” stand up. Following a recent spate of Nike bringing back “cult classic” silhouettes, the Nike Air Bakin  is now reported to hit the shelves anew in 2026, expected to renew its original construction in the OG “Varsity Red.”

While we’re accustomed to Nike bringing back some of its most influential sneakers on a regular basis, the Bakin hasn’t been nearly as populous. A retro of the classic “Varsity Red” spurred a run of novel colorways around 2014, but the sneaker has been largely absent from shelves since that limited run. The long layoff and uncommon appearances since its initial 1997 debut, if nothing else, make for a more compelling reason for the Eric Avar design to hit the shelves anew.

Further, it’s a shoe that’s already in the consciousness, as the Nike KD 18 “Air Bakin” helped bring the shoe that Tim Hardaway help become famous back to the forefront. It also helps pay off a typical Nike strategy, as a Supreme collaboration in 2023 could’ve been interpreted as a tactic announcement that the mainline silhouette would return in short order. Obviously that didn’t come to pass in the year and change immediately following that collab, but it helped whet appetites for this retro all the same.

The Nike Air Bakin OG “Varsity Red” is currently expected to release during the Spring 2026 season, a window from January to March. Retail pricing is currently unknown.
