While Teddy Santis’ Made In USA collection has become part of the fabric in New Balance’s world, there’s still certain announcements out of the sub-label that very much raise eyebrows. Bringing back the New Balance 992 absolutely fits the bill, one of a few collaborative prongs that included Joe Freshgoods’ “Aged Well” and Ronnie Fieg’s two “Osaka” colorways. Easily in the conversation with those totemic partners, Teddy Santis is dishing out his own two-pack, including the New Balance 992 Made In USA “Calcium” at hand.
To be sure, the complete preview of the Spring/Summer slate gave us indications that this silhouette would be a major presence in the ALD founder’s work, as well as an early sense of what to expect aesthetically. Now revealed in full with retailer shots, the tasty blend of “Calcium” and “Raw Cashew” sees the two similar off-white shades take up most of the real estate. Two pale yellow eyestays allow some sprightly energy to sneak into the design, while pops of characteristic NB grey crop up in the sole unit and at the collar.
Expect the New Balance 992 Made in USA “Calcium” to land sometime in May, retailing for $200. It’s unclear whether it and the New Balance 992 “Caramel” will land on the same day, but don’t expect much daylight between the two of them either way.
