Ever since Tinker Hatfield worked Michael Jordan’s love for cars into his signature models, motorsports have played an important role in Nike’s sneaker conceptualization stage. The Nike Air Max 90, also designed by Tinker, is a prime example. Taking influence from Italian sports cars, the legendary sneakerman created a runner with one key mission; look fast.
In a fitting callback for the model’s 35th anniversary, Nike has been tricking out an Air Max 90 “Racing” pack inspired by NASCAR in the 1990s. This “Total Orange/Vast Grey” colorway is next in line, ready to pass the green flag during the Summer 2025 shopping season.
Sticking to the same design blueprint as its peers, the model’s sleek, angular appearance is heightened by a black mudguard and midsole. Perforated white leather and “Vast Grey” suede live up top, accompanied by “Total Orange” hits on the Swoosh, tongue tag, and heel “Nike Air” text. The two key “Racing” qualities to note; a carbon fiber mudguard window and NASCAR-inspired “90” text over the insoles.
This is one of two new “Racing” Air Max 90s releasing during the Summer 2025 window, joined by an “Iron Grey” colorway reminiscent of the “Purple Pigeon” Nike SB Dunk. Enjoy official images of the “Vast Grey/Black/Total Orange” Air Max 90 below and visit our Sneaker Release Dates page for more.
