A Brief History Of The Jordan 4 “Black Cat”
Originally releasing in 2006, this Air Jordan 4 is simply an all-black color option of the AJ4 model. In the mid-late 1990s, Air Jordan architect Tinker Hatfield pitched a design idea to Michael Jordan for the Air Jordan 13, likening him to a black jungle cat. It was then that Michael revealed tha t his childhood nickname was actually “Black Cat”, which eventually became a piece of the Jumpman lore.
The Black Cat Jordan 4 released again for the first time in 2020; it became a global hit, with prices surpassing $1,000 in the secondary market. This is very uncommon for Air Jordans that aren’t either an original colorway or a special edition collaboration of some kind. With the demand still strong, Jordan Brand has decided to bring the shoes to market once again on November 28th, 2025.

Below is a first look image at the upcoming 2025 version. While the actual color and design is not new, it’s worth pointing out the updated shape of the Air Jordan 4 Retro, which is much more consistent to the original ’89 build. Additionally, the Jordan 4 “Black Cat” 2025 will feature Nike Air on the heel; the prior two releases (including the first 2006 pair) featured the Jumpman.
Where To Buy the Jordan 4 “Black Cat”
The Black Cat Jordans are expected to launch on November 28th, 2025, coinciding with Black Friday. The shoes will be available in full family sizes, which includes adult, grade school, pre-school, and toddler. The shoes will be available at Nike SNKRS and Jordan retailers globally.
