Up Close With The Super-Rare Air Jordan 1 High ‘85 “UNC” PE

Should Jordan Brand release these?

Up Close With The Super-Rare Air Jordan 1 High ‘85 “UNC” PE

Grail-tier sneaker seller @englishsole has shared an ultra-rare “UNC” PE that looks like it could have come straight out of 1985. While not an original colorway, the Jordan 1 High ’85 plays off the OG “Metallic” lineup by swatching on timeless “University Blue” as the accent color.

It’s not exactly clear when the PE was created, but according to @englishsole, less than 25 pairs exist. However, other well-known collectors of high-end, elusive Air Jordans claim that the number is false and “a lot more exist”.

Just like the five “Metallic” Jordan 1s that released in the 80s, crisp white leather sets the stage across the upper. The Swoosh, Wings logo, and collar underlay appear in shimmering “University Blue,” while a white midsole and “University Blue” outsole round out the design underfoot. Of course, the sneaker’s OG-inspired 1985 shape is what makes for a truly special pair.

The Jordan 1 High ’85 “UNC Metallic” PE won’t see a public release, but Jordan Brand is touching down with a “UNC Reimagined” Jordan 1 High on May 10th. As for the ’85 cut, which is typically reserved for OG makeups, it looks like “Royal” and “Chicago” colorways are next up (probably releasing in 2026).
