At this point, James Whitner and his streetwear label’s influence in Beaverton is unassailable. Granted access to the Nike, Inc. catalog to a degree incomparable to any other current collaborators, A Ma Maniere has issued tonal takes on some of both the Swoosh and the Jumpman’s most venerated silhouettes. But what if they took a stab at one of their more modern icons? The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Dark Violet Ore” provides a tangible reference point for that hypothetical.

With how consistently we’re treated to AMM collab product, most of our readership and the sneaker community at large should be familiar with the dusky tonal palettes that the brand dabbles in. The heavy influence of the deep rosy titular shade throughout this look lands extremely close to those make-ups, with the Air Jordan 4 “Violet Ore” and the accent shades on the Air Jordan 5 “Dusk” the closest comparisons. Stepping away from that train of thought, this “Dark Violet Ore” Vomero 5 represents a sharp left turn from mainline editions, departing from the usual vibrant or Y2K-steeped looks we’re used to.
