Nike has never been shy about throwing shade at its competitors, but the sportswear giant has now found itself on the opposite end of some social media sass.
Just like all of us, Crocs is well aware of the idea behind Nike’s viral React Rejuven8 clog. In poking a bit of fun at its newfound competitor, the @crocs IG account posted a story calling out the similarities between the new Nike model and its Classic Clog.
While it’s a bit unfair to call the model a blatant Crocs rip-off, it’s not a stretch to say the React Rejuven8 probably doesn’t exist without Crocs’ meteoric ascension. We see this time and again in our world; one footwear brand sets the tempo with a popular model, and others follow suit with aesthetically similar alternatives.
Now the ball is in Nike’s court. Will the Beaverton brand fire back with a rebuttal, and if so, what could that look like? We’ll be eager to find out.
