Jordan Brand’s obsession with releasing distant samples is making its way to the Air Jordan 6 canon next year. As part of the model’s 35th anniversary celebrations, the ultra-rare “Reverse Infrared” sample from the turn of the century is joining the growing slate of 2026 Jordan releases.
Sneakerheads of a certain age might recall seeing the “Reverse Infrared” 6s on sites like eBay and Niketalk back in the day, but the sneaker never saw a public release. Generally accepted to have been produced in 2000 as part of the model’s first retro run, the OG colorway spinoff comes with flipped black and “Infrared” on the forefoot portion of midsole, not to mention “Infrared” (not black) Nike Air text over the heel. No images of the 2026 release have been made available yet, but the dated sample pictured below lets us know what to expect.
It was previously reported that the original Jordan 6 “Infrared” would return in 2026, but that’s since been debunked given the news about the “Reverse Infrared” release. Jordan won his first NBA championship in the iconic original colorway, with the “Infrared” 6s returning for a total of four retros since 1991 (most recently in 2019).
No firm release date has been set at the time of this writing, but the Jordan 6 “Reverse Infrared” is expected to land in the January-March 2026 window. See detailed images of a sample from 2000 below as anticipation builds.
