In Nike’s most recent earnings call, among a host of other strategic bits of intrigue, the concept of toning down the sky-high production numbers of “core” models was again a major factor. Crucially, Elliott Hill made the distinction between “rightsizing” and “sunsetting,” so while you won’t see the Dunk Low, Air Jordan 1, or Air Force 1 leave the brand’s catalog anytime soon, the days of full market saturation are certainly numbered. While no one colorway is more important in this general schema, it does continue to light our coverage of Beaverton’s slate of incoming Dunk Low looks, now pouncing on a “Desert Khaki/Pink Foam” “Neapolitan” style edition.
While we’re accustomed to any spins on the dessert to deliver a tritone split, here the palette expands to include a wider range of earthy shades, highlighted by “Coconut Milk” and “Desert Khaki” panels towards the front of the shoe. The cacao end of the flavor combo comes with the swatch of “Mink Brown” in the rearmost eye-stay panel, while the “Pink Foam” Swoosh closes out the trio. A final distinguishing factor comes with the deep ruby shades pasted across the laces and outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low “Desert Khaki/Pink Foam” should release sometime in the Summer/Fall window, retailing for $120 once launched.
