Nike has the Air Max DN8 and the Big Head Origins slated as their big Air Max Day drops, but many are looking beyond March, specifically the Air Max 95 “Neon” for their must-have bubbled pick-ups of 2025.
The original colorway of the 1995 model created by Sergio Lozano may be the most iconic Air Max sneaker of all-time. More recognizable than any installment of the Air Max legacy and certainly the champion of the original five colorways three decades ago, the 95s are easily in a metaphorical Mount Rushmore of Nike footwear history for its timeless design.
With Nike’s adherence to dropping shoes on milestone anniversary years, we foresaw the Air Max 95 “Neon” dropping in 2025 years ago. This year’s version brings a very welcome twist as it will ditch the “modern” Air units and revert back to the older construction that features the horizontal seam through the heel Air unit. This crucial detail was ditched way back in 2005/2006 as Nike re-engineered the cushion to be less prone to deflation, resulting in a visibly shrunken bubble. Nike likely did not fore see the widespread disapproval by the public; this effectively halted the Air Max 95’s appeal from 2006 and beyond.

The Swoosh has taken serious efforts in restoring original shapes and constructions of its earliest Air Max models. In recent years, we saw a remastered Air Max 90 in 2020 (looking back, this was widely under-appreciated) and even a production of an earlier prototype of the Air Max 1 meant for a release in 1986. The 2025 version of the 95 is simply its best foot forward in two decades. It still falls short of the original in terms of bag volume, but that won’t hold anyone back from copping multiple pairs of these Neons.
Where To Buy The Air Max 95 “Neon” 2025
Although the shoes released a bit prematurely in Japan in mid-March, Nike has a firm release plan scheduled for the month of April. Select stores in NYC, LA, Chicago, and along the I-95 route will release the shoes on April 4th, with wider SNKRS and retailer drop penciled in for April 17th. MSRP is set at $185.
