“Sneaks” Brings Talking Kicks To The Silver Screen

The first animated film in our vertical.

“Sneaks” Brings Talking Kicks To The Silver Screen

It’s hard to find movies-meets-sneakers updates outside of Ben Affleck, but Sneaks, launching this April, provides one such opportunity. A genuinely loaded cast is attached to the upcoming film, uniting faces from Mustard to Martin Laurence in its first full-length trailer.

Carrying the venerable formula of “objects come to life” that’s propelled plenty of animated movies this side of Toy Story, Sneaks brings that concept into our side of the industry. The protagonist wins a limited pair of Chris Paul kicks at the “Sneakerhead Gala,” unaware of his new pair’s magical properties. Spoiling his “Like Mike” dreams, however, Laurence Fishburne’s “Collector” repossesses his pair, revealed to be “siblings” voiced by Anthony Mackie and Chloe Bailey. Some ensuing chaos splits up the left and right, prompting Ty to traverse the metropolis in hopes of reuniting with his sister.

While the film’s subject matter obviously catches our attention by default, don’t sleep on the stable of talent attached to it. Rob Edwards of “The Princess and the Frog” fame is attached as both writer and director, while the cast of talent boasts names like Keith David, Martin Lawrence, Macy Gray, Quavo, Mustard, Swae Lee, and Ella Mai. Heritage hoops brand AND1 is also attached.

Sneaks hits theaters on April 18th. Check out the full trailer below.
