Converse Has Entered The Sneaker Loafer Chat

Converse's Japanese arm introduces us to a trendy new model.

Converse Has Entered The Sneaker Loafer Chat

After dominating headlines in 2024, the sneaker loafer hybrid is a trend only building momentum in 2025. A rush of new looks for the New Balance loafer continues to mark instant sell-outs, with Hoka’s version achieving similar success in its initial release. Can Converse match the sky-high attention of those competitors? A fresh entry into their formalwear catalog just surfaced overseas with the all-new Converse All-Star Coupe GB Loafer.

Compared to the teched-out, maximalist sole units of this shoe’s peers on the market, the low-pro aesthetics that Converse has championed throughout its history continue with this silhouette. Taking a vulcanized rubber cup sole from the already refined All-Star Coupe, the model also maintains the overall shape of its upper, not needing to make too much of a jump, given the simplistic leather paneling that defines the parent model.

The midfoot strap, tasseled strips, and carved-out foot entrance mark this as earnest formalwear, chalking off one last elevated touch with a gilded bangle setting center at the top. For this initial delivery, two colorways are on tap, executing classic looks in all-white and all-black. While this may be the American audience’s introduction to any Converse Loafer, their Japanese site is littered with similar shoes, including Bitloafer, All-Star Chunk Loafer, and All-Star Trekwave Loafer.

The Converse All-Star Coupe GB Loafer is coming soon on the brand’s Japanese site. Though we’d feel confident that the global release would be mirrored in the US for most brands, previous similar pairs have stayed siloed to the island. We’ll keep this page updated with any news if this model appears stateside.
