We’re closing in on a year since the Air Jordan 4 RM first hit the shelves. In that span, its biggest booster has moved on to the Jordan 4 Nigel Sylvester, leaving the offshoot model to largely fend for itself. Even if we can’t foresee another co-sign of the BMXer’s caliber coming down the pike, as we’ve seen plenty throughout the Jumpman’s history, they don’t always wait for an outside name to spice things up on their core models. Case in point, the Air Jordan 4 RM “Motorsports,” now emerging via official images.
Though in recent years, Michael Jordan’s stamp in the NASCAR world has had a more considerable influence over his footwear, his former superbike squad has arguably had larger overall impact, inspiring modern classic looks for both the Air Jordan 4 and Air Jordan 6. Those familiar with said shoes will clock the 23 emblem as a holdover from that era immediately, a badge most prominently featured on the “White Cement” coated vehicles of that era.
A fittingly high-velocity colorway accompanies the new branding notes on either tongue, with a contrast sole complementing the jet-black tongue and “Smoke Grey” suede mudguard. Pops of “Fire Red” and “Speed Yellow” help further alight the profile. Also note some tasteful hardware swaps, pinning mesh across the collar and perforated leather on the toe in divergences from the silo’s typical format.
The Air Jordan 4 RM “Motorsports” should be hitting Nike.com and partnering retailers in the coming weeks as a part of the Spring/Summer slate. Retail is set at $150. Catch official images below and watch our Jordan Release Dates page for further updates on this shoe.
