The ASICS GEL-KIRIL proper marked a seminal moment in the ASICS Kiko Kostadinov partnership. Preceding models from the Bulgarian designer were largely mashups, taking pieces of already existing models and combining them with his own innovative spin. Carrying an entirely new sole unit, the GEL-Kiril was a ground-up construction that went a long way in illustrating how much sway the young designer had carved out.
Now easily identifiable as a power player in ASICS’ halls, Kiko serves up the GEL-Kiril 3, arguably the line’s easiest digestible to date. To be sure, there are plenty of off-kilter touches. Most evident is the tactile topographical print that takes over the quarter panel, constructed to outline the Tiger Stripes branding. Then, the sharp line-work that paces much of his catalog crops up with striped mesh at the toe and angular cut-outs towards the heel. Underfoot, the same cushioning tech that appeared on the two preceding models remains in place. Two stealthy colorways help introduce the shoe to market, split between “Black/Deep Blue” and an earthier “Bronze Brown/Black.”
The next step in the Kiko Kostadinov ASICS journey lands on March 8th in both colorways — retail for the ASICS GEL-Kiril 3 is set at $240. Catch official images below and keep the respective “Where To Buy” sections close by for release day.
