A cutting room floor pair resurfaces.

The Mythical Off-White x Air Jordan 4 “Bred” Is Up For Sale For $60,000

Simon Tan, aka @depeche23mode, has a penchant for making headlines, frequently trotting out unreleased, extremely limited, or sample-only footwear. However, the man may have outdone himself this time, revealing a pair of the Off-White Air Jordan 4 “Bred” that can be yours for a cool $60,000.

In unraveling why this shoe has achieved notorious status, it helps that the Virgil Abloh product begins with one of the most beloved Jordans of all time in the Air Jordan 4 “Bred.” However, swapping the eyelet wings and back tab for (fitting) off-white clear plastic, aging the midsole, and utilizing NextSkin synthetics on the mudguard strikes a novel approach to the beloved deconstruction aesthetics that made Off-White product the pinnacle of sneakers for so long. The requisite exposed branding notes, including the product description inset behind the netting and the iconic “AIR” on the midsole, close out some of the modified touches.

The pair first emerged as a part of Virgil Abloh’s unreleased Off-White showcase at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art in 2019, pairs have had a habit of cropping up every few years and re-capturing the attention of footwear media and followers.

The most recent flare-up came with a rumor that floated around in late 2024 that the shoe would finally see a public release, a plotline eventually quashed and functionally superseded by news of the Off-White Jordan 1 expected for this year.  In less public fashion, notorious collector Fat Joe also flexed a personal pair to celebrate the release of his eleventh studio album.

All that said, the shoe landing in Simon Tan’s hands, himself an equally high-level sneaker historian, is only fitting.
