Eric Avar already holds a claim to being among Nike’s greatest designers of all time without the Nike Air Flightposite One (the Kobe 4, Zoom Penny, Air Flight Huarache and a host of Foamposite peers), yet the cult following that the silhouette carries to this day elucidates how influential his touch was for a generation of basketball fans. Building off the success of the Foamposite proper, the now-vaunted designer proposed the Flightposite as an anatomy-influenced spin-off, modeled off of illustrations of bone and muscle-fiber with a new shroud closure to boot.
This all-black pair marks the second in this 2024/25 retro of the Nike Air Flightposite One, a bring-back effort that itself chalks off the fourth time the shoe is returning to shelves. Fleshed-out endeavors came in 2008 and 2014, with a truncated four-pair run in 2018/19.
