Pharrell Williams has quickly jumped back into the conversation of the Three Stripes’ most valued collaborators in 2025. His adidas Jellyfish instantly became among the big footwear winners of Paris Fashion Week, a chunky, techy entrant into the German giant’s catalog. Though not an entirely novel silhouette, you can argue that his chunky adidas Superstar 92 is in that same class, more than a year in the making after a debut at last summer’s showcase. Now officially announced with the help of long-time Pharrell associates, the Clipse, its market debut is now just around the corner.
Centered around the iconic duo and Williams’ hometown of Virginia Beach, the shoot marks a full-circle moment: Pharrell remains a top dog with adidas and the brothers continue to tease to return to the shelves with their first album in over a decade. More granularly, it helps that Pusha T is himself a VIP in the Three Stripes’ book, most recently tapped as a part of the adidas A-Type reveal. Though these shots carve out a few features on the all-black colorway and some accompanying ‘fits, the all-white is particularly fitting given their most lasting subject matter and Malice’s religious reinvention in the years post-“Til’ The Casket Drops.”

As mentioned towards the top, this is far from the first time we’ve caught wind of the adidas Superstar ’92, aka “Double Wide,” likely already etched into the sneaker consciousness. However, this fully formed announcement reveals some of the finer inspirations behind the chunky silhouette, said to reflect the “exaggerated aesthetics of the 1990s and the functional details of snowboard boots.”
