If there’s a true sign that a New Balance shoe has entered its inner circle of silhouettes, it’s an embrace of kids sizing. The Boston brand has typically taken some time between the introduction of new product and a roll-out for the younger demo, something the New Balance 1000 recently achieved with sized-down pairs of the “Color Dipped” wheat pair recently let loose via retailers. The American giant is further entering the shoe into its new range with a fresh Foot Locker exclusive, the New Balance 1000 “Sea Salt/Lilac.”
For this new life, this pastel-painted pair is a perfect embrace, pasting the titular lavender and buttercup tones in slight accents atop a fully neutral base. Look to the teardrop embroidery at the toe, the outline surrounding the “N” at the quarter or the stripe of ABZORB cushioning at the heel.
Note that there’s been a renewed push behind the throwback silhouette overall. Enlisting brand signee Eladio Carrión to spread the model’s geographic reach combines with a spate of new collabs (Bricks and Wood New Balance 1000, atmos New Balance 1000) stand as the two previous pieces of evidence, now joined by the extension of the shoe into the kids’ market.
As mentioned in the title, the New Balance 1000 “Lilac” releases on February 20th via Foot Locker channels (in-store, online). Retail is set at $105 in girls’ sizing.
