Colour Plus Brings A Throwback Hiking Vibe To The Saucony Matrix

Saucony is calling on its multidisciplinary partners to help reintroduce the Matrix; an archived model that hadn’t previously released since 2000. Following a project by Jae Tips in December of 2024, Saucony is tapping consultant, stylist, and DJ Jordan Page for another collaboration with Colour Plus.

The design might not be as colorful as you’d imagine given the name of Page’s brand, relying primarily on earthy brown shades. Hairy suede treatments on the raw edge tongue, toe cap, and heel complement light brown canvas sidewalls, which are broken up by black Saucony logos around the quarter.

The Matrix isn’t a trail shoe, but the Colour Plus collaboration delivers a throwback hiking vibe with rope laces, vibrant branding, and playful iconography; a sensible theme given the model debuted in the 90s. The defining quality lives on the heel, where embroidered sun and peace sign graphics appear on the left and right shoes, respectively.

In the lead-up to launch day, Page shared images of a sample featuring a zipper enclosure as opposed to laces. He mentioned that the fit wasn’t secure enough to move forward with the design, but the sample paints some more context around his vision nonetheless.

The Colour Plus x Saucony Matrix retails for $170 and will be available through the Saucony website and select retailers on February 21st. See official images below if you’re moved to try for a pair.
