Andrew Rizzo Everywhere you look, sneaker brands are hopping on the “gorpcore” wave with new utilitarian versions of existing models. Nike is touching down with TPU-heavy “Drift” versions of Air Max staples, New Balance is deploying fresh tech-forward versions of 1906, and for our purposes, Saucony is giving the Progrid Omni 9 a full-on suit of armor for Spring 2025.
After debuting by way of a collaboration with French boutique Starcow, the Progrid Omni 9 Armor has emerged in a whole cast of new and upcoming GR colorways. The established Omni 9 silhouette stays the same, but the materials are completely different than those of the base model. Hefty pieces of TPU are utilized in place of leather overlays, and the base layer is comprised of a more durable, tight-knit mesh material.
Monotone black, grey, and green colorways are available now via the Saucony website, soon to be joined by the cream and brown styles pictured below. The Progrid Omni 9 Armor retails for $170, which is surprisingly only $10 more than the standard version.
