New Balance Brings “Triple Black” Aesthetics To The Caged 9060

The emergence of both the New Balance 2010 and New Balance 2000 speaks to the fact that the Boston brand is rarely comfortable resting on its laurels. That’s not limited to the realm of entirely new product, either. Just as we all became used to seeing the endless wave of New Balance 9060 colorways that have flooded the market in recent years, NB is queuing up a curveball. First introduced with a duo of primary color gradient editions, a TPU-caged build of the New Balance 9060 enters in familiar “Triple Black” / “Black Cat.”

The swap is digestible enough, taking the topmost overlays and printing them as a hardened shell that now sits above the base construction of the shoe. Despite the “floating” appearance of the new exterior, there’s no risk of detachment: a thin ribbon at the front anchors it to the body, as do the laces as the new addendum doubles for eye-stays. With how audiences responded to the New Balance 9060 “Black Cat” proper, delivering this fresh composition in an entirely stealthy look is a savvy move — all that’s left to see is whether NB can strike twice once this pair hits the market.

In lieu of a concrete release date, expect the New Balance 9060 appearing on the NB site in the coming weeks. Despite the changes, retail remains at $150.
