While Joe Freshgoods and Aime Leon Dore kicked off the reign of the New Balance 1000, the silhouette has taken an extended sabbatical from collaborations in the time since, instead opting to focus energy on inline formulations. The first few months of 2025 have appeared to reverse that trend though, as the Bricks & Wood All-Star collection and now an early shot of the upcoming atmos New Balance 1000 help the Y2K silhouette jump back in the co-branded ring.
Though creative director Hirofumi Kojima only shows only a topside and backside view, it appears that the paisley print courses through the full foundation of the shoe, including the plush bootie section on the interior. On top, relatively standard black suede overlays anchor the design while stark white embroidery sits atop those topmost sections. Additionally, he attaches the subtitle “bāṅdhnū” to the shoe, likely a creative alternative to bandana that hits on the word’s linguistic history. Zooming out to atmos at large, this continues a promised streak of collaborations the Japanese imprint will unleash in 2025 as the store celebrates 25 years in business.
If this New Balance 1000 follows the typical atmos collab cadence, this initial teaser likely won’t precede official release information by too long. At the time of this writing, however, not much is known about when to expect this shoe. It’ll almost assuredly be a Japan exclusive upon release.
