Beaverton’s community initiatives are wide-ranging, but it’s hard to say that anything trumps their ecological efforts in terms of collective impact. While their efforts in the category are equally widespread, the most visible is their “Next Nature” product, marked by a pinwheel logo that indicates at least 20% recycled content. As fitting a silhouette as any, the Nike Dunk Low has been at the fore in subcategory, now stepping in again for a “Metallic Platinum” adornment.

Certainly the shimmering tones are the headline with this pair, but it’s not the end of the intrigue. Nike executes something of a retro-futuristic theme by merging that chromed-out foundation with a faux-aged sole, with the tender off-white tones on the overlays bridging the gap between those two hues.

From our perspective, to this point Nike’s sustainability program was aimed at making incorporating eco-friendly kicks to into your rotation as seamlessly and hassle-free as possible. Marking this attention-grabbing layout as an exclusive to the Next Nature program likely marks the next step, ensuring that looks a cut above can only be grabbed with the recycled composition at hand.
