The lore around the adidas Crazy 2 is exactly that: crazy. Kobe Bryant hated the shoe so much that he stopped wearing them and went back to his first model in the Playoffs. He then approached adidas to get out of his contract, leaving the Kobe Three to never be released. The Black Mamba eventually landed at Nike; today, there’s an entire category called the Kobe Brand dedicated to his own branded footwear and apparel.
Despite its infamous back-story, the adidas Crazy 2 should have somewhat of a fanbase in 2025. Both the nostalgia heads and the Y2K-crazed sneakerheads should see the appeal behind the second Kobe model, because the bulky, bizarre, and brazen design fits into some niche fashion categories.
Given the shoe’s roots as a signature model, it’s possible some adidas athletes will be rocking the Crazy 2 on the NBA court by the likes of Jalen Green and/or Jalen Williams.
adidas is expected to release this colorway of the Crazy 2 this June 2025 for $160; see the official images ahead and stay tuned for firmer details on our Sneaker Release Dates page.
