Among OG Air Jordan 1 colorways, the “Metallic” editions are sometimes the black sheep, not commanding the incredible demand that the Jordan 1 “Bred” and its counterparts do despite carrying the same origin story. However, those tone-on-white shoes do still influence the current catalog plenty, and the Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Purple” looms large over an upcoming pair of Mid’s and Low’s.
Indeed, the candy paint finish coats both the pairs on display, particularly effective on the Swoosh on either. However, each interprets the archival colorway in slightly different ways. For the Low, graphite-colored overlays mark a divergence from that 1985 edition, yet in broad strokes, you can still feel it as a reference point. The Air Jordan 1 Mid instead opts for a more modern configuration, borrowing the paired collar and toe from pairs like the “Bred Toe,” nonetheless still sporting the same shimmering gloss in the process.
Anticipate the Air Jordan 1 Low and Mid “Metallic Purple” landing on Nike.com and via partnering retailers in short order, commanding price tags of $120 and $135 respectively. It’s unclear at the time of this writing whether this will be a men’s or women’s release, however, so keep our Jordan Release Dates 2025 landing page handy for that info as it comes.
Shifting to a more imminent drop on that slate, read up on the Jordan 5 “Black Metallic,” releasing on February 8th.
