New Balance’s incredible growth over the last two years can be attributed to their impressive new models that seamlessly blend heritage. Successsful hit models like the New Balance 9060 exemplify that acumen, and they just might have their next big smash hit in the New Balance 2000.

Revealed here for the first time is this silhouette that, as mentioned, is a proper amalgam of new and old. The 2000 model certainly skews to the former via a no-sew streamlined upper silhouette, achieving the signature layered look through a modern construction. The tongue and lacing, however, sticks to a classic set-up, allowing it to maintain a bit of that retro runner aesthetic.

The midsole cushioning unit is the topic of debate. The lateral side features five distinct pods of ABZORB cushioning, with each featuring a horizontal crease for flexion. The medial side repeats the five-pod set-up with an exposed mid-foot plate. The heel cushioning bisects at the heel, similar to how the 9060’s platform is arranged.

New Balance has yet to make any announcement regarding the new model, but images of the shoes have been shared by Gustavo Soares, a Sao Paolo-based stylist. Stay tuned for updates.
