How much longer will we have the Nike Vapormax Flyknit 2023? It’s the question that’s loomed over all of our Vapormax coverage since the end of last year, especially as the two year anniversary of the silhouette looms. With Nike regularly issuing updates to the line on that biannual basis, the answer is seemingly “just a few months,” but there’s still time for the ’23 edition to make an impact — something the “Dark Smoke Grey/Dusty Cactus” colorway at hand accomplishes well, in our estimation.

In this potential buzzer beater look, the Flyknit 2023 accomplishes a first in its history, delivering a gradient look on its bulbous cushioning unit. Not only does the tonality shift from purely stealthy at the forefoot to “Dusty Cactus” jade, the opacity also changes: the matte finish towards the toe becomes translucent as you work your way backwards. Flip the shoe and you’ll see the same thing play out on the outsole, particularly striking with the midfoot “middle ground” between the aforementioned tonality and clarity.
