The New Balance 9060 has truly reached a level of ubiquity, an unavoidable status that’s almost a blessing and a curse. The fact that so many consumers have a pair in their rotation is an obvious plus, but it also means that creatives for the Boston brand will need to pull bigger punches to keep the model feeling fresh, perhaps something that the New Balance 9060 in the multi-color variation at play can attest to.
The off-kilter combo of pine green and royal purple speaks to that already, bridged together by a smattering of off-white, cream and brown that courses through the midsole and mixed media upper. Placing shaggy suede on those emerald sections is another moment of experimentation, a divergence from the typically cleaned-up aesthetics that the silhouette tends towards.
To be sure, the New Balance 9060 isn’t at risk of an imminent drop-off, and if it continued on with its neutrally-toned home base, wouldn’t suddenly disappear from the market, but adding counterpunches like this will surely help keep its momentum going. Look for this pair landing via NB.com and partnering retailers as part of the brand’s Spring ’25 offerings.
