The New Balance 1906U Sports A Detail Only Seen On Collabs

A subtle nod to the model's past.

The New Balance 1906U Sports A Detail Only Seen On Collabs

Though now joined by the New Balance 1906A, New Balance 1906W, and New Balance 1906L, the New Balance 1906has a claim to the most well-explored derivative of the 1906R, utilized for a healthy amount of inline releases and a sneakily deep group of collabs. The line between the two is beginning to blur with the latest GR release, as the “Grey/Red” do-up in the spotlight here carries a touch left behind from a previous collaborator.

In less mysterious terms, Invincible and N.HOOLYWOOD’s 1906U from July 2024 directly influences this pair, seen with both the rear pull tab and the “New Balance” stamp on the forefoot mudguard. Stretching further back, those brands have relied on this front-and-center branding on their previous 2002R link-up, making the creative lineage here pretty easy to trace. Outside of those hardware notes, the New Balance 1906U relies on a staid combination of wintery grey, black and off-white, capping off with fire red flares on the outsole and laces.

The New Balance 1906U “Grey/Red” should be landing via New Balance channels shortly, retailing for $170 in men’s sizing.
