The Nike Dunk Low “CBGB” Nods To An NYC Institution

The live music hotspot receives a special tribute.

The Nike Dunk Low “CBGB” Nods To An NYC Institution

Of all the musical landmarks in New York City, few are as iconic as CBGB in the East Village. Once located on Bowery and Bleecker, CBGB continues to have a lasting legacy despite being closed for nearly two decades. In 2025, Nike honors this institution of music and culture with special Dunk Low inspired by the dive-y venue.

Inspired by CBGB’s charming grit, sticker-bombed bathrooms, and signature font on the awning, Nike crafted this honorary Dunk Low with a special textured overlay, custom insoles, and various details that are both in plain sight and hidden from the view.

The “NIKE” on the heel is modified to replicate the original CBGB font that stood on the awning. Behind the tongue are “Bleecker” (Nike spelled it incorrectly) and “Bowery”, the cross-streets in which this venue stood for decades. The insoles are a messy mosaic of Nike stickers, set to mimic the walls of the claustrophic restrooms.

Although the venue no longer exists (a John Varvatos retail store stands in its place), Nike may have some special events planned for this forthcoming release. Stay tuned for updates as we learn official release details of the Dunk Low “CBGB”.
