It doesn’t always take collaboration to explore narratives with beloved Nike models- Beaverton continues to be plenty capable of exploring off-the-beaten-path concepts of their own accord. In the opening weeks of 2025, one of the more attention-grabbing themes has been the “Racing” Air Max 90, a four-alarm colorway of the 90s icon that’s suddenly gone from pair to pack. Part of how that’s played out is with the shoe at hand, a “Mandarin/Blue Fury” spin on the Air Max 90 with the same racing inspo.
After the shoe was revealed via retailer shots, official images reveal identical spell-out text on the interior compared to its peers, rebranding the silhouette’s name with cursive script over a gradient-shaded “90” emblem. While the palettes differ significantly between each shoe in this pseudo-capsule, this colorway helps to enunciate the uniting theme: dark contrast soles.
For this application, it’s particularly striking, given the vast chasm between the jet black underfoot and the vibrant neon hits up top. As a final note, these shots depict adult sizing, while the previous ones showed the same shoe sized down for the GS crowd — a likely indication that all of the “Racing” Air Max 90 pairs will be family affairs.
The Nike Air Max 90 “Racing” in “Mandarin/Blue Fury” will likely hit shelves for Spring ’25. Retail pricing hasn’t been announced just yet, but expect a slight premium on the typical $130.
