Original article published January 13th, 2025: With a bit of help from cherished collaborators Joe Freshgoods and Teddy Santis, the New Balance 1000 reintroduced itself well in 2024, now firmly planted in the tech runner conversation after being forgotten to the archives in its original run. However, to paraphrase one Dr. Dre, the hard part isn’t getting there, it’s staying there.

If the silhouette is to keep up that momentum into 2025, parcelling out some defining colorways and color-blocking will go a long way to doing so. With the colorway at hand, it appears New Balance has aims at doing exactly that for the 1000, reprising the top/bottom split we saw on multiple occasions throughout last year. On top of capitalizing on an all-leather build, here the choice is trendy chrome hits on the upper half, jet black on the midsole, and titular “Dark Ice Wine” sandwiched in between.

The New Balance 1000 “Dark Ice Wine” is expected to land sometime in Spring 2025, retailing at its typical $150 price point. Keep an eye on our Sneaker Release Dates page for further info. Enjoy official images embedded below in the meantime.
