Around this time in 2024, we likely would’ve pinned that badge on the Grid Shadow 2 on account of its Bodega and Jae Tips collaborations, but with “The Savior” and new addition Westside Gunn moving onto the silhouette at hand, it feels like it’s currently got the juice. The afterglow of those link-ups naturally begets increased interest in the shoe’s general release efforts, so we’re turning our attention to a techy “Microchip” colorway that just hit their store.
It shouldn’t be a shock that steely “Microchip” graces this shoe almost entirely, continuing the dominant wave of greyed-out tech runners that’s been one of the most impactful forces in sneakers through the 2020s. If anything, it’s a surprise that Boston creatives didn’t check off this treatment earlier.
Nonetheless, the dense, layered compositon of the shoe is on full display here, with multiple mesh widths colliding throughout the upper and some notable variation in its monochrome stylings as you work from heel to toe. None are more impactful than the “Three Rivers” logo at the midfoot, entirely decked out in chrome to befit this retro futuristic do-up.
