Andrew Rizzo With 2025 on the horizon, we can’t help but reflect on which models helped define the sneaker industry landscape over the past twelve months. ASICS certainly has no shortage of contenders in that department, with the Japanese brand relishing in extraordinary demand for its Sportstyle offerings like the GEL-1130, GEL-Kayano 14, and for our purposes, the GEL-NYC. Collaborations with brands like HIDDEN NY and consistent stream of applaudable GRs have placed the GEL-NYC at the forefront of the tech runner wave, and in lockstep with the trend at large, ASICS is approaching 2025 with more than enough colorways to satiate fans of the hybrid model.
This Spring 2025 arrival goes by the moniker “Formal Garden,” fittingly equipped with an array of different green shades. Forest green suede spans the mudguard portion, complemented by sage leather underlays and lucky green around the quarter. Cream-colored mesh and suede polish off the upper, while the midsole marries cream with subtle green hits on the GEL cushioning portions. While there of course a plethora of differences, the green “Formal Garden” theme delivers an aesthetic comparable to the aforementioned HIDDEN NY x GEL-NYC from March of 2024. That’s to say if you’ve been staring down resale prices for that shoe, these stand out as a far more attainable pick-up.
The GEL-NYC “Formal Garden” is available now overseas and is expected to land in the US during the Spring 2025 shopping season. Budget for the usual $130 retail price if you’re moved to add a pair to your rotation.
