Matt Varga Nike’s Air Max Day is still a ways away, but be it unofficially or officially, our understanding of Beaverton’s lineup surrounding the March brand holiday is becoming more and more comprehensive. As part of the wide-ranging SNKRS showcase unveiling all of the Swoosh’s offerings for Spring 2025, we got an apparent picture of the upcoming Air Max Muse and spotted our second-ever colorway for the model.
As an entirely new silhouette, the Air Max Muse led the festivities with Marya Chan, Material Designs Director for Women’s Lifestyle, diving deep into the model’s creation. The product line now occupies a middle zone between earnest performance and solely lifestyle, and in line with that, the Muse was imagined with construction meant both to stand out in everyday wear and hold up time and time again while fulfilling that purpose.
While the women’s exclusive label can seem spurious elsewhere in the catalog, here it’s attached with intention — Chan cites the concept of women “dress[ing] based on mood.” That shapeshifting aspect influences the mixed-media lean. Perhaps most intriguing for long-time Nike devotees is the designer pointing out that the Muse was intentionally crafted to consciously break from Air Max history rather than include tacit references or utilize past DNA.
Finally, on to the “Oil Green” edition, there is a stark divergence from the Y2K-inspired “Metallic Silver” look that hit the net by way of Jordan Chiles. While the shoe’s jet black base remains, the titular emeraldine suede is planted on top, and a contrasting fiery red Swoosh lands towards the forefoot. Put forth as a more toned-down counterpart to the eye-catching reflective pair, the Air Max Muse “Oil Green” is also queued up to launch Spring 2025, retailing for $160.
