When just analyzing them for their historical context and place in the current market, sneakers can often become a bit too serious. Leave it to Jordan Brand’s kids’ product to provide some levity (or leavening?) After a mid-cut counterpart emerged weeks before, the Air Jordan 1 Low “Bread & Butter” provides a light-hearted spin on the beloved silhouette.

As mentioned in that initial coverage, we’re reading this colorway as a bit of metatextual commentary on the Jumpman’s part, acknowledging the Air Jordan 1’s enduring status as their most reliable model within the bounds of this GS pair. Even without that reference, though, there’s still plenty of eye candy that’s worth your attention.

Start with the literal bread tab that comes looped into the laces, a perfect complement to the buttered toast hangtag that provides another customizing option. To zoom all the way out, the typical Jordan 1 arrangement even gets tinkered with. A glossy cracked leather finish throughout the overlays brings some extra flash and a nice bit of contrast to the toasty brown suede that sets the foundation.

The Air Jordan 1 Low “Bread & Butter” releases sometime in late 2024/early 2025, arriving in grade school sizing. Though retail pricing isn’t confirmed, expect something in the $120 range.
