Original article published October 15th, 2024: Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are entering the 2024-25 season in an unfamiliar spot: expected to return to the NBA Finals. If there’s anyone suited for that level of expectations, it’s the Wonder Boy, and Jordan Brand ensured with the debut of the Luka 3 that he’d tackle the challenge in style. However, for the newest look of his signature, he and the Jumpman are looking backward, taking inspiration from an “Imaginarium” theme that predates his Jordan line entirely.

You’ll have to jump back four seasons to understand the origins of this pair. In a January 2021 game in Chicago, Luka (then in his third season) sported an exclusive pair of the Air Jordan 35, ironically passing Michael Jordan on the all-time triple-doubles list despite a loss to the Bulls. The psychedelic pattern from the mudguard of that edition here paints the IsoPlate that interrupts the midsole, while the rest of the shoe takes on a more easily digestible “South Beach” palette. Notably, that defining detail is entirely absent from grade school sizes; instead, the propulsion tech swaps to matte black.

Held intact from those colorways mentioned above, the “Imaginarium” title alludes to Doncic’s on-court creativity, arguably more of a strong suit entering year seven than when the moniker was coined. For those tapped into the history of #77’s kicks, note that this completes a set of in-line references to the PE series, serving as a sequel to the Luka 1 “Imaginarium” from 2022.

Select retailers already have the Jordan Luka 3 “Imaginarium” queued up for a November 5th release date in both men’s and grade school sizing. Expect a $130 and $100 price tag, respectively. Catch official images just ahead.
