Matt Varga Marching on as the defining Nike silhouette this decade, we’ve reported on seemingly every manner of colorway and retooling on the once-basketball shoe. However, that deep backlog gives Beaverton designers plenty of themes and concepts from the past to revisit should the well otherwise run dry. First explored with a psuedo-pack of two releases in 2022, “Double Swoosh” design is returning for an additional set of outfits.
The stacked branding is truly the main selling point on either of these shoes, draping an additional lengthened check over top of the traditional one, stitched over the suede mudguard and fully engulfing the quarter panel. Both pieces of branding on either shoes make up the sole application of leather, the rest of the shoe drenched entirely in suede. Additionally, true to those 2022 drops, abstract text on the tongue stamps the Dunk’s “’85” origins, accompanied by offset Nike embroidery.
It’s somewhat notable that a greyscale “Panda” sort of look and decadent “Neapolitan” are the colorway choices, either one obviously explored plenty in the Dunks’ history. On top of hitting on fan favorite themes, the recognizability of these palettes lets the hardware change speak even louder, wedged into the bounds of shoes that Nike knows resonates well with consumers.
Both pairs of Nike “Double Swoosh” Dunks are expected for Holiday 2024. Retail pricing hasn’t been announced, but expect the typical Dunk price tag, somewhere in the range of $100 to $120.
